Background

2015 Mayor Janway asked Creative Carlsbad to create a bridge event to take place in the Halagueno Art Park. The event's goal was to create a bridge event between United Way's Santa Fun Run and MainStreet's Electric Light Parade. The Council developed an illuminary event to start at the end of the Fun Run. The event showcases local art and talent and provides a fun holiday atmosphere. The event end is noted by the lighting of the Carlsbad Community Christmas Tree- signalling the Electric Light Parade to begin. In 2025, Mayor Lopez requested the Council move to reinvision the event for a different time of year- as the events downtown are growing and exceeding capacity.
